365 Days of Thanksliving — Day 192

Howdy, howdy blog fans. Today’s post is coming to you bright and early, and it’s going to be short. Why? Because in less than an hour, I’ll be intentionally trapping myself in a moving vehicle headed to Sioux Falls with our youth group for a day of service and fun.

In all seriousness, today I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to tag along and watch our kids serve the Lord and the down-and-out (and to squeeze in a bit of fun myself). I have no idea what the road trip conversations will entail—will they be deep and inquisitive, or will I be forced to nod along to slang I don't understand? Will they be memorable, or just too hard to handle? Either way, I’m sure it’ll be good.

I hope it’ll be good.

For this aging pastor, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve taken a road trip with the next generation—especially when the kiddos aren’t my own legal responsibility, ya know? So… pray for us. Seriously, pray for them (halakha), and remember to be thankful too. Today is a day to plant seeds, guide, and prove to these kids that even us old farts can still have a bit of fun.

Perhaps tomorrow’s post will be a triumphant update, or maybe just a plea for a 12-hour nap? IDK? Stay tuned to find out.

Thank you, Lord, for the chance to go on a road trip with the youth in our church. May you be with us, in more ways than one (especially during the auxiliary cord handoff). 😊
