Who's "Just Jason"?

If you were expecting a stoic, stained-glass version of a pastor, you might be in the wrong corner of the internet.

I’m Jason—a 57-year-old, "fat-n-sassy" sailor-turned-pastor currently living in a town so small (shoutout to Comfrey, MN!) that we’ve got more four-legged residents than stoplights. I’m a bona-fide child of the 70s and 80s, which means I probably quote Better Off Dead more than is strictly necessary and I still think synthesizer music makes everything better.

Before I was wearing a stole, I spent nine years in the U.S. Navy. (Go Navy! Beat Army!). That season of life taught me a lot about discipline, but mostly it taught me that God has a sense of humor.

My ministry journey has taken me from the mountains of Idaho to the "Holy Toledo" streets of Ohio and across the great plains of Nebraska. Eventually, the compass pointed back toward Minnesota, where I get to be closer to family and serve the people here in the North Star State.

I’ve been married to my gorgeous wife, Danielle, for over 34 years—which, let’s be honest, makes her a candidate for sainthood. We’re officially empty nesters now, though "empty" is a relative term when you share a house with two Boxer dogs named Gus Gus and Arlo.

We have three incredible daughters, two sons-in-law, and a grandson who has officially stolen the title of "Favorite Male in the Family," - well, for now, until his baby-brother makes his entrance sometime around Christmas Eve.

What I’m Doing Here

When I’m not in the pulpit or recording videos for my YouTube channel, you’ll probably find me:

  • Writing: I’m currently on a mission to write 365 days of gratitude. Some days it’s easy; some days I’m writing about swamp-creature nightmares.

  • Living Life: I’m currently resetting my health — an ongoing battle — which should involve eating a lot of meat and keeping away from the diet soda … but I digress.

  • Chasing the Light: I’m an amateur photographer who loves capturing God’s creation through a lens.

At the end of the day, I’m just a guy who loves Jesus, his family, and a good 80s movie marathon. I believe faith should be lived out loud, with a bit of snark and a lot of grace.

I’d love to hear your story. Whether you want to talk about the Bible, Navy football, or why the 80s was the best decade for cinema—drop me a line. Let’s see what God is doing together.
