365 Days of Thanksliving — Day 119

Howdy, everyone.

I have to admit, my usual supply of sarcasm is running a bit low today. Turns out, sometimes you just have a genuinely nice, quiet Sunday, and it completely ruins your edge. It’s hard to be snarky when your soul actually feels... full.

It started at church for Palm Sunday. It wasn't exactly standing room only, but there was definitely more humans in the sanctuary than usual. IDK, perhaps 100 or more? (For a small church in a tiny town. Not bad. Not bad at all).  I definitely felt a heavenly energy in the room. Lots of smiles, good worship, and a whole lot of encouragement going around.

Of course, the highlight was the beauty of the kids parading through the sanctuary waving their palm branches while the congregation belted out "All Glory, Laud, and Honor." It’s hard not to feel a boost from that kind of holy energy. Afterward, plenty of people stuck around for fellowship time. Let's just say the coffee and donuts were hit hard.

It turned into a beautiful day, so we actually opened the windows in the house to catch the fresh air. We spent the afternoon watching the men’s March Madness tournament. Yay Michigan for the win, though sadly, UConn just edged out Duke. We didn't have any skin in the game, none at all. Truthfully, we just enjoy watching the athletes play their hearts out and their fans cheering all nutzo.

For supper, I actually cleaned out the pellet grill and seared some serious 16oz ribeyes. We paired them with tasty oven-fried potatoes loaded with onions and seasoning. And nope, absolutely no green vegetables were harmed in the making of this meal. It was glorious.

I guess that’s why I'm sitting here thinking about fullness. It’s hard to explain, but my soul just feels content. Relaxed, spiritually satisfied, and at peace. I’m reminded of Psalm 107:9 (ESV): "For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things."

It also made me think of that prayer by Apostle Paul to the Romans

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

That kind of complete filling is exactly what today felt like.

So now, we’re just hanging out in the basement, totally chilling. I am literally being used as a pillow by the dogs. I'm just taking this time to prepare my mind, body, and soul for Holy Week, because that marathon kicks in high gear tomorrow morning.

I'm just really thankful for a nice day. It wasn't high-octane or exciting, just a solid Sunday where we didn't have to go anywhere after church. Sometimes, that’s the biggest miracle of all.  Thank you, Lord, for a wonderful Palm Sunday!
