365 Days of Thanksliving — Day 291

Goodness y’all, I gotta be forthright. I have writer’s block—or rather, thanksliving (aka gratitude) block. For 290 days now, I’ve tried (and not always succeeded) to find something unique to write about. Honestly, it’s getting harder with every passing day.

That said, I AIN’T giving up on this project. No way, José! But I digress.

Back to the brain block. Today being a rather bland Thursday, I was looking for something new to catch my eye, spirit, and soul along the way. Well, not much was coming to mind. But, hmm, perhaps one thing. I gotta warn you, though, it’s a bit of a stretch. Allow me to take the long and torturous path to get there (mostly because it’s forcing me to engage my brain).

So, after a long day yesterday and an early morning today, I decided to carve out a bit of “me” time over lunch—right after reading umpteen pages of commentary on the Book of Revelation. Nothing like a little light reading, ya know? Truly, I haven’t had to think this hard in a while. Kinda brought me back to seminary days. LOL.

Being in the mood for a zesty, meaty marinara sauce, I dashed down to Hy-Vee to grab some of that succulent red gravy we prefer. Along the way, the clouds were hovering low, making for some rather interesting views. One sight in particular caught my eye: three windfarm windmills partially enveloped by the clouds. (Told ya it was a stretch).

As those gigantic blades spun right round, one was always slicing through the clouds. Honestly, it was just kinda cool. In that moment, I really wished I had my camera bag with me, ’cause the iPhone just wouldn’t have done it justice. It was one of those rare sights that made me smile and offer a quick wink to God.

Truly, as I walked into the church early this morning, I kinda wished I could’ve played hooky and just driven around snapping photos all day. It’s rare when the conditions are just like they were this morning. (What would be even better are those low-hanging, foggy clouds and freezing temps, causing the fog to turn into crystalline frost on everything. Sigh.) Still… duty called.

Anywho, back to town 90 minutes later, I resumed thumping my noggin against that Revelation commentary until I couldn’t takes it no more. By 4 PM, my brain was absolute mush, and I called it quits for the day. My sweetie and I made some supper, and now here I sit, tapping this out and watching a comedy on the tube.

That’s what I gots today. Truly, I am thankful for all of it: the cool clouds, the wonderful supper, the brain-banging on the Revelation book, the comedic relief, and a good Bible study this morning. That, and so much more.

Alright, that’s it for today. Drop me a line in the comments section below with something you’ve never, ever shared before that you’re thankful for today. You’re not allowed to repeat anything, either!
