Tonight, I’m thankful for those who’ve preserved these historical places: like Saint Kilian’s and Old Westbrook Lutheran. Those churches are living time capsules, reminding us that while times change, we’re blessed when some things stand still.

Sometimes God’s Word smacks us upside the head like a two-ton truck, and other times, He speaks with a still, small voice.

As I backed out of Elaine’s driveway, I felt elated for the day of visits I’d had – a day of thanksgiving with four members of the Silent Generation. All are wise for their years, and none are afraid. All realize that what’s happening now has happened before, and humanity will go on. What’s required of us is gratitude, prayer, and faith.
